NEED OF TPA…..A JOURNEY

14 Pathologists practicing in Thane met in Hotel Satkar in 2011 for deciding minimum uniform Test rates.On meeting success of a united effort 35 Pathologists from Thane District held a meeting in January 2014,in a hall near Malhar Talkies to discuss mainly 2 issues:

1. A fight against illegal labs including signing Pathologists and

2. Holding Academic activities.

However the mood was not to get a branch or chapter of either Associations APPI OR MAPPM and we decided to form Thane Pathologists Association (TPA). Formally we got REGISTERED UNDER SOCIETIES REG. ACT and Bombay Public Trust with Reg. No MAH/1424/15/T on 9/9/2015.

Simultaneously TPA got Accreditation from MMC for conducting CMEs and Conferences. Till date we held 6 conferences,3 Regional conferences and more than 50 CMES and a dozen webinars.

In due course of time when mostly Mumbai Navi Mumbai and almost all from Thane and Palghar district Pathologists, Microbiologists and Biochemists got united under TPA and Khandesh districts started attending conferences we changed our name from Thane to “The Pathologists Association” and TPA became State level organisation though we have our members in Gujrat, Singapore, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

On 07.11.2013, a whatsapp group was created by me in the name of TPA. Today we have Four TPA WA groups, one Telegram group and one community group having nearly 1400 State Pathologists. It is a daily treat of academic activities. Discussion on subjects related to all branches of Pathology including Biochemistry, Cytology, Immunology and Microbiology is the main focus.We are grateful to WA.We built TPA due to WA as mouth publicity was the only way to reach thousands in one go.

1. TPA has won ALL battles against many SIGNING PATHOLOGISTS AT MMC & NMC and persuaded our many fellow colleagues to stop selling signature at peanuts.

2. launched on one single day Morcha by good number of TPA members submitting our demands at all Municipalities and Corporations in MMR region and Collector office.
TPA represented Health Ministers Shri Girishji Mahajan and Shri Rajeshji Tope time to time to help the cause.

3. achieved a resolution no 56 passed in TMC on 20.5.2017 which will be an ideal for Lab.Control.

4.TPA managed to get a letter from State IMA to all its branches in state in 2014 and also in 2018.

5.Lodged WRIT PETITION IN MUMBAI HIGH COURT 1057/2016 challenging the Dhatrak G.R. dated 9 Sept 2011 restricting the Govt officials from taking actions against Bogus Pathology Laboratories- also with demands of plugging the loopholes like signing Pathologists, Digital signature, in house side Laboratory etc.

As a result of this Writ Govt.came out with a G.R dated 24.5.2016 absolutely in our favour, but due to stiff opposition by united Technicians lobby State changed its tone in 48 hrs and issued a G.R.dated 26.5.2016 reversing earlier GR.Therefore we reapplied in same writ to reverse the 26.5.16 order to 24.5.2016 order We also have reapplied for implementation of
A. Hon. Supreme Court decision dated 12.12.17 in letter & spirit
B. Human Rights Commision order dated 22.1.2018 .
C.Representation to Health Minister dated 16.1.2018. Recently we have also challenged the Govt committee formed to make Lab rules and quash oders dated 27.05.2021 and 29.07.2021 to form a 19 member committee to control state medical labs.

6.In 18/07/2019, we got an order from CIT Exemption for registration under section 12AA of the Income Tax Act 1961 and recently achieved 80C for organisation

7.Barring Gadchiroli TPA has representation in All Districts of Maharashtra.

8.In the new Executive committee TPA has committee members from Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Dhule, Pune, Solapur, Sangli and Nasik apart from MMR.

9.Irrespective of Covid times and no conference for nearly 2 years nearly 150 New members have joined TPA incovid times and latest number is 870 nearing 1000 mark by June Varsha Conference.

10.Rs.1000 is onetime New Membership fees and Rs.2000 is the renewal fee to be paid every year. Its vote of confidence each year.

11.For TPA members till this time we have managed to offer free CMEs, Mega Conferences, Workshops or Regional conferences. With ever increasing number and united voice we are able to get sponsorship from Diagnostic industry for all our Academic ventures.

12.50plus InHouse Faculties
TPA has given a platform to our own members to present their power point presentations along with stalwarts in our field.

13.With development of new website www.tpaindia.in and new payment gateway we are making everything online for our members ...registration, cme payment, renewal payment, membership form. Covid has taught us with successful results about online Zoom webinar which we will continue in future for regular CMEs
